Biz Tip # 6: Be picky with your marketing channels
Jennifer Panepinto is a marketing expert and the owner of Painted Bread Marketing. She shared this tip with me.
Definition:
To be most effective, your marketing goal should be:
To be in front of the right people
on the right channel
at the right time
with the most meaningful message.
Once you identify who your target customers are (the right people) and craft your meaningful message, where will you share it? What is the “right channel”?
It makes sense to be where your customers are. Getting to know them will help you discover where they hang out in person and online.
Remember, your favorite social platform might not be their favorite, so what’s the point of talking (posting) when your customer isn’t there to hear you?
So be picky about the social platforms you use for your business.
Why you should care:
You have limited time and finite resources. Don’t waste them with marketing activities that don’t result in sales.
Give it some thought.
Where are you currently sharing your marketing messages? Are your ideal customers listening and responding?
If not, consider doing some research to make sure they are receiving your messages.
Customers follow trends, so if one platform is the hot new place to hang out online, that may be where you need to be. Your research (aka talking to your customers) will tell you.
Being picky can pay off!
